Before it dies...you see the rings.
If you have an Xbox 360 then you've either seen the rings or eventually will see the rings. Well known around the intertubes as the Red Rings of Death or RROD for short. It is only a matter of time before the hardware overheats and fails. I will be receiving my fourth 360 later this week since the launch of the system in 2005.
The 360 is the most unreliable electrical hardware ever made. There has never been an electronical device that fails as much as the Xbox 360. Although, Microsoft has issued a 3 year warranty for any 360 that experiences the RROD. This approach is a band aid fix more so than an actual fix. This is still unacceptable. There should have been a recall and a redesign.
Whenever the next generation of Xbox game system comes, I will wait to see how reliable it is before I purchase one.
